Choice of random access memory (RAM)
Again there are two main categories of memory : SD-RAM and DDR-RAM. SD-RAM is now more or less outdated after the introduction of DDR-RAM. The main difference is that DDR-RAM operates at higher hertz frequency and is therefore faster and better. DDR-RAM comes in types from PC-2100(266 MzH) to PC-4200(533MzH). Again, the more MzH, the faster the memory is and the price will of course also be higher. Shortly, memory is not a big issue for most users. With today's low prices I suggest you buy lots of it. The minimum requirement for Windows XP is 128 megabyte. 512 MB will fulfill most users.
